The Musician’s Training Ground
Live performance teaches what a practice room cannot. In front of a real audience, alongside other musicians, students develop the instincts, timing, and confidence that define a working musician.

Learning Beyond the Stage
The value of the session continues after the last tune. Musicians build relationships with peers and experienced players, get honest career perspective, and see first-hand what a life in music can look like.

Who Can Participate
Student musicians, college musicians, emerging artists, and young professionals looking for real live-performance experience are all welcome. Participation depends on space, instrumentation, readiness, and the session leader’s direction — advance registration is recommended.
A Boston Music Legacy
The Jam Sessions take place within a working live-music environment connected to Wally’s Cafe and its long-standing place in Boston’s music community — a jam-session tradition that reaches back to the early 1960s and that Student Music Project continues today. Here, developing musicians learn inside a real scene, not a simulation of one.

These are our set program rates. Transportation and staffing are billed separately, and rates cover programs within the City of Boston — travel charges may apply outside the city. A written quote and agreement are provided before any booking is confirmed.
