Privacy Policy

How Student Music Project collects, uses, and protects your information.

Last updated: August 8, 2026.

Student to Student Music Project and Jam Session, Inc. (“Student Music Project,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through studentmusicproject.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We collect only the information you choose to provide, mainly through our forms: your name, email address, phone number, organization or facility, the program you are interested in, preferred dates, and any message or details you include. If you join our mailing list, we collect your email address. We may also collect basic, non-identifying technical information (such as pages visited) to understand how the site is used.

How we use your information

We use your information to respond to inquiries, schedule and coordinate programs, process and acknowledge donations, send updates you have requested, and improve our programs and website. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Donations and payments

Online donations are processed by PayPal. Payment is handled on PayPal’s secure platform under its own privacy policy; we do not collect or store your full card or bank details on this website.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. It collects information such as the pages you view, how you reached our site, and general details about your device and approximate location (estimated from your IP address, not your precise location). We use this information only in aggregate; we do not use it to personally identify you, and we do not sell it. Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address. You can read how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/privacy.

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We use essential cookies that are required for the site to work, and analytics cookies (such as _ga) that are set only if you accept them. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies, and you can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate our programs and website — for example, with service providers who help us send email and manage our mailing list (such as Mailchimp) or process donations (such as PayPal), or when required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep inquiry and donor information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it.

Your choices

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or unsubscribe from emails at any time, by contacting us using the details below.

Children’s privacy

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site. Program participation by minors is arranged through schools, families, or facilities.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
